Academics
St. John’s students regularly perform higher than the national average on standardized testing. Each student in second through eighth grade participates in Scantron testing so individualized benchmarks can be established early and to ensure the needs of each student are properly met. Additional diocesan tests are also taken.
Spiritual Formation
In addition to attending weekly Mass, students participate in Chapel Time, a program to help each individual enrich their own prayer life. Students may also be active in seasonal prayer services and morning prayer. Sacramental preparation is provided at age appropriate levels.
Intimate Setting
The average student to teacher ratio is 19-1 in grades K-4 and 23-1 in grades 5-8. Ten of our teachers have 25 years or more of teaching experience and thirteen of our teachers have their master’s degree.
Activities
Extra activities are available for students such as Math Olympiad, Power of the Pen, Spelling Bee, Geography Bee, History Fair, Mileage Club and Teens Against Substance Abuse. Our sixth-graders participate in the DARE program and attend a 3-day camp.
Latchkey
Latchkey services are available for all students in grades K-8 from 3 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. any school day. Students may do their homework, play games with their peers and have a light snack while being supervised by an adult.

Tuition Assistance/Scrip
Through the generosity of parishioners and others who have made bequests to Delphos St. John’s, there are monies set aside for those who can’t afford tuition. Our Tuition Assistance Fund is available to St. John’s parishioners who qualify based on financial need. Those seeking aid must complete a Student Aid Form by mid-July of the same school year for which the aid is being requested. More information about this assistance is available from Business Manager Ted Hanf at 419.695.4050 or Email: hanf@dsj.noacsc.org
St. John’s entered into a contract with Great Lakes Scrip in November 2008 and it has been a tremendous success. More than 150 families have received credit toward their tuition through their participation in this voluntary program. Many local businesses accept Scrip, and St. John’s considers the program a way to bring customers to those businesses that so generously support our school. Acquiring tuition credit through the Scrip program can begin even before a student starts at St. John’s. More information about this program is available at the Ministry Center, 201 N. Pierce St.
